Inergy Linx: One of the Best Solar Panels for 2020?

Today, I’ll be giving a quick overview of the Linx solar panel by Inergy, showing you the features and details, and will show you where you can best use it.

Initial Look of the Linx 100 Watt Solar Panel

The initial look of the solar panel is tall and thin. The Linx panel is 26” W x 40” H x .75” D and weighs only 8 pounds!

With a monocrystalline finish on the solar cells, this panel is ideal for any occasion needing portable power off the grid.

The other common type of solar cell is called polycrystalline and is slightly less efficient than monocrystalline.

Since the panel is only eight pounds, it is easily portable, but not for long distances on foot, because it is so big.

The Linx panel has four drilled holes on each corner of the surface, along with brass grommets which are great for fast mounting and securing the panel onto objects like your tent, RV, or roof of your home or garage.

What can the Linx Solar Panel be used for?

Some ideal purposes are for a camping trip, home use for emergency prep, a cabin, and even an RV.

The panel can be used basically for any purpose that you need it for and is excellent for any activity that is off of the grid.

How much power do you need? The Linx panel has 100 watts of power, so if you want more power, all you have to do is chain them together. You can chain up to five panels together for the optimal power.

The panels use an EC8 plug and are sold separately. You can find the adapters here. They come in six-foot and thirty-foot sizes.

The EC8 connections can be converted with an adapter to power the Inergy Kodiak solar generator, and you can find them on the same page as above.

Linx panels go very well with the Inergy Apex, which is shipping out to customers in the late spring/early summer.

  • Voltage at maximum power: 17.6V
  • Current at maximum power: 5.68A

Monocrystalline Vs. Polycrystalline

Monocrystalline solar cells

The Linx panel is made of monocrystalline, which is made with a higher grade of silicon, thereby improving the efficiency of the solar panel.

Polycrystalline, on the other hand, is made with lower grade silicon and reduces the efficiency of the solar panel by a small percentage.

With a monocrystalline panel, you’re getting more power on the same footprint as a polycrystalline panel.

Solar panels in general last a long time (generally ten to twenty years), so an investment in a panel like this is bound to be paid off many times over during its lifetime.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Lightweight: Eight pounds
  • 100 Watts – A lot of power
  • Monocrystalline – Most efficient cell type
  • Grommets (holes) on each corner of panel – Easy to mount
  • Semi-flexible – Can flex up to 30 degrees
  • Chainable for up to five (5) panels

Cons:

  • Have to buy connections separately
  • Large panel – Not easily portable, especially long distances on foot
  • EC8 connection – Need adapter cables for items other than the Inergy Apex

Conclusion

Being lightweight, durable, and powerful, the Linx 100W solar panel is ideal for the adventurous type as well as the emergency prepper.

Having free energy with a solar panel makes it easy to use and ideal for many purposes.
