Initial Look of the Suaoki G500

The Suaoki G500 features an LCD display

As you first glance at the solar generator, you’ll notice the orange-looking LCD screen on the outside…

This visual display monitors your battery charge as well as the generator’s output.

To the left of the screen, you have your power button. It has a small LED light to the left of it that lights up to show that it is on.

Just below the power button is the “AC Out” button. When pressed on, it releases the power from the battery to the two AC outlets below.

To the right of the AC outlets, we have DC ports supporting USB devices. These ports include a USB-C port for any USB device as well as two USB-A fast-charge ports for anyone using the traditional USB chargers.

Also included to the right of the USB slots are two DC outlets at 12V/3A and a carport at 12V/10A. These are for items such as an air compressor or a portable outdoor shower.

The Suaoki has a significant amount of connections to power up your devices with

Above the carport, you’ll see the “DC Out” button, which you press to turn on and off the power to the right (DC) side of the generator.

Above the “DC Out” button, in the top right corner, is where you charge the Suaoki. The left input of the two connections is labeled “Adapter” and this is where you charge the G500 from your car or wall charger.

The overall construction of the Suaoki G500 consists of durable, heavy-duty plastic on all sides of the generator.

On the top, there’s a large carrying handle for easy towing from your car to your campsite or wherever you find yourself using the power generator.

Being that the Suaoki weighs nearly 22 pounds, it’s important to be careful when moving it about, because it’s basically a massive brick.

Suaoki G500 – Battery Performance

The battery performance as well as a few other specifications are found below.

The Suaoki G500 stats are impressive for its size

Internal Technology Within the Suaoki G500

Included in the G500 system is an MPPT controller, also known as Maximum Power Point Tracking Technology.

This increases the power input of the solar panel it is connected to, giving you less time to wait for it to charge up.

The G500 comes with many innovative technologies.

One of which is the BMS or Battery Management System.

This system automatically turns on the cooling fan when the internal temperature is higher than 45°C or if the total wattage is over 150W.

A protective chip inside also prevents short circuits, over-current, and over-voltage, so you are protected.

The G500 also has pure sine wave AC output, which is great for any audio equipment (generates less electrical noise), and for CPAP machine users who like to go camping.

Best Solar Panels to use with the Suaoki G500 Solar Generator

The best solar panels to use with this generator include the ones that will give you the quickest charge, the ones that will be the most portable, and the ones that will last you the longest.

Goal Zero Boulder 100 Solar Panel

The ones that will give you the quickest charge are the ones that have the highest output power for wattage.

The Boulder 100 solar panel will allow you to charge your G500 up and give you the power you need fast.

It will also allow you to fold it up so it will be able to be carried more easily.

The first thing that makes this solar panel so powerful and usable is that it has rubberized edges.

A small change, yes, but when you think about it, you’re using this solar panel specifically for your house, then in almost all other areas of use, you will be using it outdoors somewhere and you will be dealing with quite a bit of different terrain depending on where you live.

Having rubberized corners makes a huge impact when it comes to making the case for a powerful and quality solar panel.

The HQST will be a solid investment for your Suaoki G500 because it is one of the best-selling and highest-rated solar panels for its size and output on the market today.

Don’t believe me? Look it up!

The price is excellent (at $89.99), and the output has been tested compared to other videos, check out this one by Will Prowse, a trusted reviewer on youtube.

This solar panel is a great purchase because it makes for a great way to keep your Suaoki powered.

It is not super large and it’s fairly lightweight.

Pros & Cons of the Suaoki G500

Pros:

  • High power capacity – The Suaoki has extensive power, regardless of the size, so if you end up using it for a weekend trip, you will have more than enough power – as long as you’re not using power tools for a long period of time!
  • Many outlets – The ability to connect to solar panels, a car, or a wall outlet to charge up is significant.
    • And the outputs are useful and relevant, where you can charge a laptop or plug into an appliance with the AC outlets, or charge your phone or a camera battery with the USB outlets.
  • Accessories included – You get a wall charger, a car charger, and even an MC4 charging cable with your purchase of the Suaoki G500, so you’ll be ready to charge your generator right away.
    • The MC4 cable is also rarely included in a solar generator kit like this one. They can be kind of pricey, too, running at about $15 for a separate MC4.

Cons:

  • The “portable solar generator” is relatively heavy – At 22 pounds, it takes some muscle to get it to where you want it. You definitely would want to keep it at low distances when moving it.
    • I for one am 6’2″ and 180 pounds and I still would want to carry that thing around for long.
  • The generator gets quite warm when you use multiple outlets at one time – It’s important to be cautious of where you set the generator when you use it extensively so it can cool down easily.
