The Ideal Solar Power Bank – My Recommendation
Although they offer off-grid power, most solar power banks have small solar panels with slow charging times. If you need a power bank with consistent access to off-grid power, I recommend the Goal Zero Sherpa 100AC paired with either a Nomad 50 or Boulder 50 solar panel.
I own a Sherpa 100AC and use it nearly every day. I don’t use it for off-grid purposes often, but if I want/need to, it can charge from a 50W solar panel. I’ve done a lot of research on solar power banks, and this is the fastest-charging solar power bank combination that I know of.
However, this combined system has a hefty price tag. I only recommend this kit to people who either:
- Want backup power for charging small devices (phones, LED lights) in case of emergencies, or
- Need consistent off-grid recharging power and as much portability as possible
